Utilizing LED lights for outdoor step lighting

Staircases, landings and other elevation changes in decks or patios can be a serious household hazard. These are popular places to entertain and spend time during the warmer months. This outdoor space is often utilized as an extension of the homes living space during the summer or year-round in warmer climates so it is important make sure common hazards such as steps or elevation changes are well illuminated to minimize accidents.

Down Lighting and Security Lighting

Landscape lighting is an effective security tool. Darkness is the friend of would be thieves, vandals and other criminals. By adding light to the outdoor areas around your home your home becomes a less attractive target to criminals. Security lighting simply refers to the technique of using outdoor lighting to illuminate dark areas for security purposes. Some simply security lighting techniques include adding spot lights or accent lights in or around your homes doorways, windows, and other areas that may allow entry to a thieve. A timer and motion senor can be used as well.

From what I'm understand, there is no voltage drop through long wiring for led.

Does anyone know if that means led lighting uses only one gage of wire - no
matter how long the run?

That would result in huge savings over traditional kits, since it's
the wiring that starts to get expensive because longer runs require
more-expensive, heavier-gage wire.

Before one starts a landscape lighting project it is important to become familiar with the various lighting techniques. Learning about these techniques before you start your landscape lighting project will not only help ensure your project goes smoothly but will also inform and diversify your plan.

There are many techniques so we won't discuss them all at once. Let's take a few of the more common techniques as a starting point and get to know those.
