Utilizing multiple types of LED lighting for outdoor and decorative lighting
July 21, 2008
This site focuses almost entirely on LED landscape lighting but a good outdoor lighting concept does not include only landscape lighting. To create a dynamic outdoor lighting system one should consider including a variety of different types of lighting. This doesn't mean that you should incorporate some incandescent or halogen lighting with your energy-efficient LED lighting system, but there are other energy efficient lighting technologies that can be incorporated into your outdoor lighting concept.
One nice contrast to a standard outdoor landscape lighting design is some good old fashioned flame. Using open flame lighting elements to your outdoor lighting system can add a natural element to your outdoor environment. There are a wide variety of interesting and attractive open-flame light fixtures or torches for outdoor use available on the market today.
Back to the LED lighting family, another way to add an interesting element to your outdoor lighting system is to incorporate some Christmas LED lights. LED style Christmas lights can be used to provide nice ambient light in places where other lighting fixtures will not work. For example, try using some warm white Christmas lights to wrap a deck railing, trellis, or other outdoor structure.
